Fright Night '10

Mommy must preface this post by saying two things.

1. It may or may not be short. It should be because she is doing this instead of getting bills paid. It may not be because Mommy tends to have a lot to say about really cute happenings. Like Halloween.

2. The fright night title is referring to Mommy and Aunt Erin... because they were big weenies while trick or treating in the neighborhood with Jace. Probably enough said. Ok, if you must know...they screamed like little school girls at some jumping skeleton at one house while Jace calmly looked at them like they'd lost their marbles. May be a 'had to be there' kind of thing but it was hysterical at the time.

So, it looks as if the short post isn't going to happen.

Anywho, Aunt Erin was obviously in town for the weekend (with an ever growing Keegan). Grandma and Fabulous Aunt Kay came for the day which meant Cousin Cory was around as well. After lunch and shopping it was time to hit the mall and the neighborhood for some trick or treating. Jace scored! Which means...Mommy scored!

That ghost has moves. It isn't pretty but she's a crawlin'!

All Mommy can think of when she looks at this one is "Shake your tail feather"

Checking out his loot

Mommy had to include a few pictures from Saturday's big win...Daddy was able to see it in person but Jace and Lexa had to cheer from home.

Could there be a cuter cheerleader?

Big news: Lexa decided to drink a bottle this weekend. Completely out of nowhere. Mommy randomly pulled one out. And she drank every. last. drop. Then she sucked on a pacifier. There's a mystery for ya on Halloween.

Daddy and his favorite cheerleader

And that would be it. Now let Mommy get those bills paid!

Caramel Apples and then some *UPDATED

*Mommy is updating this post to inform you of two very important pieces of information.

1. Jace and Lexa are getting a new BOY cousin! Mr. Keegan even has his own blog. Check him out (and his goods) on Baby K's link on the right.

2. After all the talk of pumpkins in this post, there is a new development. Lexa's pumpkin BLEW AWAY! Seriously, where but in Iowa would a pumpkin blow away? Granted, it only weighed 2 pounds but still! Luckily Daddy discovered the missing pumpkin and was able to retrieve it halfway down the driveway. Another great save. These pumpkins are beginning to be more trouble than they are worth!

ORIGINAL POST:
Ahh fall. Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Pumpkin carving coloring, caramel apple making, Pumpkin Spice Lattes...oh did Mommy mention those already?

At any rate, the past week has been filled with all of the above....some multiple times but you would probably never guess which one. Mommy of course, is in hog heaven whenever there is a picture taking opportunity...and alas there have been many. Of course if there isn't an opportunity, Mommy makes her own! Yes, Jace and Lexa love her!

First, was the caramel apple making. It was a total success. Granted, Mommy bought the caramel in little sheets that you just had to wrap around the apples. It was plenty for a 3-year-old and a non-domestic Mommy though!

Even Lexa was able to eat an apple...sans caramel. Poor girl never knows what she is missing.

The final product. Not bad for a couple of amateur apple makers. Note that Mommy said amateur makers, not eaters.

Yummo!

After eating caramel apples until their teeth hurt (ok, maybe that was just Mommy) it was decided that a family pumpkin decorating night was in order. Jace had a 6 pounder that he wanted to make into a mean, scary face.

If that's not the cutest mean, scary face....

Lexa had a 2 pounder that she...basically just wanted to gnaw on. Mommy persuaded her to do a nice little purple happy face.

Afterward the before mentioned photo op was completed.....

Check mine out!

You will notice that Jace had a little help from Daddy to make his pumpkin a little 'scarier'. And everyone knows nothing makes a pumpkin scarier than adding hair.

Ta Da!

And, enough pictures! Check out the little man's hands...he was really into his artwork.

The pumpkins were then strategically placed on the steps for onlookers to see. Emphasis on 'strategically'. Let's just say it ain't easy to see a 6 and 2 pound pumpkin. On the side of the house. When the street is like 50 feet away. In the dark.

All was well and good until the rain came. The pumpkins are now...just pumpkins. No more faces. It may have been a little traumatizing for Jace but Mommy insisted it was for the best as he gets to decorate them all over again. Nice save right?

Now on to the 'and then some' part of the post....

Jacer wanted to take a picture of Mommy and Lexa the other day. Not bad!

What do you get when you combine Jace and a day off with Daddy?

Chocolate Donuts!

Aunt Rita always sends Jace super fun musical cards. This time Lexa got in on the action. She mostly just ate hers but it appeared to be very tasty.

Lexa outgrew her infant tub (ok she really doesn't outgrow much but she was just too mobile for it) so she got a new duckie one. Actually it is exactly like one that Jace used to have. She loves it!

That is her..'oh Mommy not another bathtub shot' embarrassed look.

Funny Brother!!

And that would be the end. Until next time may you find delight in the simple things. Like Pumpkin Spice Lattes and eating caramel until your teeth hurt!

Combines, Purple Pride, and Bed Heads.

Just another busy week in Jace and Lexa's world! Finally it is Saturday (Homecoming Saturday in these parts) and everyone is taking it easy. Daddy is at the Iowa Game so Mommy, Jace, and Lexa are chilling in p.j.'s and getting ready to make caramel apples. Mommy is certain there will be blog worthy photos of this event!

As for the current pictures....the majority are of Jace and Daddy's 'field trip to the farm' courtesy of Nate. They took about an hour and a half road trip to ride on a combine and check out how the corn gets picked...or whatever it is they do with it (Mommy was obviously not a participant on this learning adventure!).

Watching the corn go in......

Stud boy....who needs longer pants.

Getting some corn for the squirrels. Jace and Daddy brought some home for the squirrels outside the house. Jace can't control himself and obsessively goes to the window every 9.2 minutes to see how much has been eaten.

Jace and Daddy in the combine. Does this make anyone else nervous?

Jacer loving life.

2 thumbs up!

The rest of the pictures are a little of everything.....

Mommy finally got a good shot of Little Miss' teefers. Aren't they adorable. And sharp.

Friday was Purple Pride Day. Jace and Lexa have it down.

You just can't contain her for long.

She's a mover and a groover.

Her newest trick. She's trying to pull herself up on everything. She also can sit up from a flat position. Not good in the middle of the night when she wakes up.

And last but not least....Mommy's little bed head.

Pictures Anyone?

Mommy figured there were a few of you itching to see pictures from the weekend. So she, being a good little blogger, decided to hop to it and post them....even though her computer still isn't plugged in! Not to worry though, it is fully charged and ready for all of Mommy's picture madness!

Nothing like tackling your older brother to get to the trains.

Kona, giving Lexa a wet one...she didn't mind.

Jace and Lexa in their Saturday best.

Jace and Kona were buddies this weekend chasing eachother through the house. Kona is going to love having a little hesh in the house!

The weekend weather was prefect...as all of October has been. Saturday, after Erin made it to town and got done feeding Baby K. (just so nobody is confused, Baby K. is still in fact in the womb and is not due to arrive until March. Mommy will likely refer to how much Baby K. eats and how big 'hesh' is many times over the next few months. She owes Aunt Erin several thousand comments like these.), it was decided that Kona and Chuck needed a play date. Turns out, Kona is as wimpy as Ozzy when his Mommy has a bun in the oven. He spent most of the time trying to gnaw his way out of Fabulous Aunt Kay's fence rather than rolling around with Chuck.

While Chuck watched Kona's anxiety over his Mama, Jacer helped Uncle Doug catch frogs. Actually the frog caught himself..they found him in a bucket and decided to release him into the woods.

Then there were trucks to be fixed. Jace was hammering around with several different tools. Apparently it didn't hurt anything because the truck still started when it was all said and done.

Sunday was the 2nd Annual Auge Day Out At The Pumpkin Patch. Actually, Mommy just named it that but it does have a nice ring to it.

Grandma desperately trying to win Lexa over by taking her down the slide.

What a little pumpkin!

Jace getting a ride in the wheelbarrow.

Fabulous Aunt Kay making Jace push her around???

Jacer in a mound of corn. Mommy and Lexa even got in on this action and are still finding kernels in their undies/diapers respectively.

A few of the wee ones at the end of the day.
Tauren, Jarret, Ashlan (she's the bald one), Tate, and Jace.

And now Mommy is going to go wallow in her self pity. Jace just came down and said, "Mommy your tummy is full"! He then proceeded to ask if there was a baby in there. Lovely. When Mommy informed him that there was no baby in there he replied, "Oh it's just food.....BIG food"!!
