Visitors Galore!

Jace's weekend was filled with visitor fun! First, Aunt Erin made her way to these parts after finishing her 2nd trimester of chiro. school. She also brought her new boy toy, Tom, along to meet the family. On Sunday, Grandma and Grandpa F. decided come and see J-man and meet Tom as well. Tom, who is also going to be a chiro. god, was up to par according to Jace and Ozzy. Both liked him right away. Mommy went out for her 7-mile run on Sat. morning and had an unfortunate mishap along the way (you will get details from Aunt Erin or maybe even from Mommy herself when her red face disappears). Anyway, when Mommy returned home to share her running adventure with Aunt Erin and Tom, he was very gracious in not giving Mommy too much grief, so she definitely gives him 2 thumbs up as well!! Aside from a black and blue toenail (which will surely fall off somewhere in the next 9 weeks of training) Mommy's run was wonderful and Jace enjoyed spending time with Aunt Erin. Of course he also was excited to see Grandma and Grandpa F. on Sunday and spent much of the day on their laps reading books. They also were able to witness his phone obsession. Seriously, it is just weird. He likes having a phone to his ear constantly. If he can't have a phone, he uses whatever he happens to be playing with and pretends it's a phone. Now, Mommy at first was very impressed and happy with his imaginative play skills. It started to get a little odd however, when he began using french fries, diapers, even silverware to talk on. Again--STRANGE CHILD! We do love him though! :) So on to the pictures. Unfortunately, Mommy didn't get many of him actually WITH any of his visitors but got a few of just him nonetheless. Enjoy!

Who needs a spoon!

Some guy at Walmart the other day actually had the nerve to tell Jace he was having a bad hair day! Little does he know, this hair takes perfecting, combing, and geling to look just so!

This is Jace trying to get the best of Mommy. He knows he isn't supposed to eat the dog bone. Notice the eye contact while he pretends to do just that!

This is Jace's 'stinky face'

Thumb in mouth--check. Hand in hair--check.

Waiting for Daddy going potty. We are seriously considering getting Jace a potty. He is so interested in them right now!

Ho Hum.......

Not a lot new to report on in Jace's house. Jace's newest talent is his 'stinky face'. He learned it at daycare and it is pretty hilarious! He squishes up his face (somewhat similar to Ozzy's) like something smells horribly bad. He is such a card! Just this morning he was doing some strange move on the floor of the bathroom (with a bottle of nail polish in each hand and mommy's nail file hanging out of his mouth) while Mommy was getting ready for work. All she could say was--'How did I get such a WEIRD child?'. Of course Jace just smiled.

Jace continues to be infatuated with his cars. Occasionally he will take a break and play with another toy but this is usually short-lived and he is soon back to the vroom vrooms.

Jace once again proving that he is indeed his Mommy's boy. Loving the chocolate!! Mommy let Jace try some of her Special K Chocolate Delight cereal and of course he picked out the chocolate chunks and left the rest. Perhaps he had seen Mommy do the same. She frequently spreads a bunch of cereal out on the counter, picks out the chocolate, and puts the rest back in the box. When there is no more chocolate left, it's time for a new box!

Silly Jacer!

Mommy has completed 2 weeks (and 35 miles) of her 1/2 marathon training program! No silly, that isn't Mommy on the treadmill--that is Jace!

Admittedly, Jace is creeping up on Mommy in the height department--and since he has nearly as much hair the mistake is understandable! Mommy typically tries to get her runs in sans Jace but occasionally he wants to come downstairs and watch. He is a runner in the making!
Jace's new favorite word is 'shoes'. It is very cute although it just proves once again that Jace is his own man. While most kids' favorite words are maybe MOMMY or DADDY, Jace prefers to say 'shoes' and 'door'. Of course he will utter Daddy at pretty funny times too! The other day Jace and Mommy were in line at Subway and Jace starts going 'Da'? 'Da'? Mommy finally figured out that there was a guy in front of us with dark hair and his hat on backwards that Jace was pointing at!

Happy Birthday Grandma and Aunt Erin--Take 2

It's that time of year again--Grandma F. and Aunt Erin's birthday's are Monday and today. Jace, once again insisted on posing as his way of wishing them well. Unfortunately, a 15-month-old does not pose as well as a 3-month old so this years photo op wasn't quite up to par. Seeing as how posing becomes more difficult with age, please don't expect any more well wishes from Jace while holding a sign. That said--Happy Birthday Grandma and Aunt Erin! Hope they are wonderful!

Last year's photo shoot--just for poops and giggles.....

Jacer Racer!

Do we perhaps have a future NASCAR driver on our hands?? Anything is possible at this point (except maybe a stint on Dancing with the Stars since Jace appears to have inherited Mommy's rhythm). Jace LOVES his cars! In the last week he has went very few places without one of them securely in his hands. He plays with them right up until bedtime and grabs one first thing when he gets up in the morning (after he signs 'eat' to Mommy). We are working on saying 'car' but for now they are mostly referred to as 'vroom vrooms'.
Jace in his usual position as of late: going nowhere without a car

Racing his car with Daddy

Driving solo

Naked driving during Wheel of Fortune (Mommy RULES!)

There have been a few time recently when Mommy has been able to catch Jace in a pose without an automobile.
One day Mommy was in the kitchen and when she peeked in to check on Jace he had climbed in the chair with his book and was pretending to read it out loud to himself. He was even pointing to pictures and jabbering!

Spring is here!! Jean Jacket Cutie!

Jace practicing his resting skills with Ozzy

And on the subject of resting skills----Jace has vastly improved his napping. Mommy and Jace have been using 'positive thinking' techniques from her half-marathon training program. The awesome book she is reading as part of her training really gets into aspects of thinking positively. One of the things it recommends is having people ask you 'Are you a marathoner?' To which Mommy must reply 'Yes I am'! Now, even though she is only doing 1/2 of a marathon and the whole thing is a little Bob the Builderish (Can we build it? Yes we can!) Mommy decided to try the same techniques with Jace. Now she asks him 'Are you a good napper? Yes you are!' It seems to be working because Jace is doing regular 2 hour naps in the afternoon!! Go Jace!

Picture Shortage

We officially have a picture shortage in Jaceland this week. We know, we never thought it would happen either. Mommy has been fighting a NASTY cold and just hasn't been up to her usual 'in your face camerawoman' self. Aunt Rita was in town Monday night, bringing along plenty of presents including mucho books and a stuffed buffalo for Jace. Unfortunately this was in the heat of Mommy's clogged nose so the pictures were forgotten. Luckily Aunt Rita introduced Mommy to nasal spray, which after several cowardly tries, has proved to be a lifesaver! But enough about Mommy's nasal drainage (or lack there of where the problem really lies). Jace has had a wonderful week, sleeping in late several mornings and continuing to extend his naps--when with Daddy or Lori at daycare that is. For some reason Mommy continues to be way too exciting to waste time napping for! Anyway Mommy has all of 2 pictures on her camera right now so ENJOY!

DORK!

"Mommy, please put down the kleenex and nasal spray and take me outside!!"

Disclaimer (directed at Aunt Erin): Mommy has been legitimately under the weather and therefore the lack of pictures this week is out of her control. She has the right to claim unbearable nasal stuffiness at any time during the blogging process, which gives her the opportunity to slack on picture posting for that particular week.

Back at the Homestead

Jace and Mommy's unexpected trip unfortunately landed both of them with unexpected colds. Ugh. The weekend however was a good one. As usual everything revolved around food, whether it was eating ice cream at 10th Street, sampling Grandpa's goodies, eating out with Fabulous Kay and Debbie, or attending a BBQ at Mommy's friend Julie's house (for her new nephew Warren G). Jace's eating binge has slowed ever so slightly but Mommy is sure another few ounces were put on this weekend (on her as well). It's all good though because Jace is a growing boy and Mommy is bulking up for 'training day' tomorrow. Yes, that's right--tomorrow Mommy begins her 1/2 marathon training. In a little less than 12 weeks she will be crossing the finish line of her first 13.1 miler! She is chomping at the bit to get going so figured a little extra fuel this weekend was a swell idea!
Mommy seems to have been slacking a little this weekend in the picture department so they are short--but sweet!

Jace eating a sundae at 10th Street..............

Jace and Julie---although he appears to be trying to get away, this is not the case. In fact, Jace LOVED her! He gave her plenty of kisses and hugs and kept wanting her to pick him up. Little Flirt!

And finally, this is Jace's 'mad at Grandma' look. He had already eaten one whole cookie and half of another and kept asking for more. Grandma stuck to her guns though and was given this look in return!

Jace On Hold

Sorry to all you diehard Jace fans but there will be no pictures tonight. Jace and Mommy made a spur of the moment trip to Grandma and Grandpa F.'s today because Mommy's good friend Julie is in town from Florida. Since we are on G'ma and G'pa's computer we can't put pictures up. We just wanted to assure everyone that we will have pictures soon. We also thought it would be a good time to have everyone check out the link below. You will probably have to copy and paste it to get there. For every time the video is viewed, the band Five for Fighting will donate to Autism Speaks. This is one of the many reasons Mommy does what she does everyday.
