Hop-a-Thon '09

Next Tuesday Jace will be participating in a Hop-a-Thon for MDA. He will hop for 2 minutes (or however long he deems necessary). He is in need of sponsors to help him in raising money. You can either make a flat donation or pledge per hop. Mommy thinks the pledge per hop could get a little messy. Who knows how many hops a 2-year-old will do in 2 minutes.....it could be 2 or it could be 200. It would make for a very interesting Hop-a-Thon though! Anyway, if anyone is interested just leave a comment or send Mommy an email. Thanks and Hop On friends!

Adios Vacation!

Daddy's vacation was officially over this morning. It's a sad thing for everyone. Daddy must return to the daily grind. Jace must return to getting up and getting off to daycare. Mommy must return to getting herself out the door with time to actually DROP Jace off at daycare. Ozzy must return to.....well Ozzy must return to resting alone in a quiet, peaceful house. Hmmm, maybe not EVERYONE will be sad to see Daddy's vacation end!
Daddy and Jace were livin' it up the last few days, doing 'man things', and just spending quality time together.

It's safe to say that those are some BIG shoes to fill!

The last few nights Jace has actually stayed on top of his bed....huge sigh of relief.


On Sunday a road trip seemed to be in order. Ok, actually on Saturday a road trip seemed to be in order but it was the same old song and dance. Jace plans a trip....it snows. Jace stays home for a few weeks.....no snow. Jace plans another trip.....it snows. You get the idea. Back to the story.....Jace, Mommy, and Daddy headed down to Nana and Papa C.'s for the day on Sunday. Once again, the greatest invention EVER (car dvd player) was a Godsend and occupied little man the entire way. Upon arriving, Jace was given some good eats and plenty of attention. Nana had even gotten a whole box of toys for Jace to play with for the day! A trip to the Children's Museum and pizza ended a great day! Jace had a wonderful time sans nap of course! You didn't think he would pull a fast one on us and actually NAP did you?

Leave it to Jace to be somewhere with tons of cool things to do....and play with the little vehicles all day!


Daddy used a smidge too much zoom for Mommy's liking but this is actually her and Jace attempting to go down the slide together. Apparently it was fun because Mommy did it several more times (by request) to appease Jace.

Spiky Hair Saves The Day!

To those of you that have already heard this story and are laughing at Mommy....please refrain and let the others who haven't enjoy themselves.

Mommy is going to do a timeline to bring everyone up to speed on the happenings late last night.

7:00pm--Jace goes to bed just like any other night.

7:10 pm--Daddy leaves for volleyball league and a few drinks afterwards.

8:00pm-10:00 pm--Mommy relaxes in an empty living room, eating chocolate and watching classic 90210.

10:00pm--Mommy decides to head upstairs to bed and watch a little more of the boob tube.

10:01pm--Mommy goes in Jace's room to check on him one more time.

10:01 1/2pm--Mommy is looking in the dark only to see a huge pile of stuffed animals, blankets, and pillows on Jace's bed.

10:02pm--Mommy panics slightly thinking Jace is buried under all of that STUFF!!

10:02 1/2 pm--Mommy throws everything on the floor only to find AN EMPTY BED!!!

10:03-10:03 1/2 pm-- The following thoughts run through Mommy's mind in a mere 30 seconds: #$#$%!!! Where is Jace? Did someone come through the window and take him? Wasn't there just a 20/20 episode just like this??!!! Why didn't Ozzy bark? Is Daddy home? Did Jace go into our bedroom? No, can't be...his gate was still locked!! Am I sleepwalking? Stop...think....No I'm sure I'm awake!! Need to turn on the lights!!

10:03 1/2 pm--Mommy flips on the light in Jaces room and does a quick, frantic scan of the bedroom...NOTHING! Decides to call 911 because Jace has been kidnapped!

10:03 3/4 pm--Mommy notices a small, spiky strand of blonde hair oh-so-slightly sticking out from under Jace's bed. Mommy runs over and realizes that the small, spiky strand of blonde hair is CONNECTED TO JACE'S HEAD!

10:04pm--Mommy wedges a still sound asleep Jace out from under his very low sitting bed and heaves an enormous sigh of relief!!

How in the world did this happen you ask? Jace was literally all the way under his bed!! The ONLY thing sticking out was that ONE strand of hair! It's a mystery....although Mommy has a few theories.....like maybe Jace inherited not only her horrible ears but also her infamous sleepwalking habit!!

Happy 2-Year Blogoversary!

Can you believe it has been 2 years since Mommy started this bloggy chronicle of Jace's life? It seems like yesterday that she decided to try out the blogging world....and now 2-years later she's still at it and lovin' all the memories it holds. It is only fitting that on a day celebrating 2-years of memories as a baby, Jace has made huge steps toward being a really big boy! Last night he slept in his big boy bed all night long! When Jace got home from daycare yesterday, Daddy had the bed all set up....complete with Thomas bedding of course! Jace was so excited! He kept laying down and saying 'Night Night'. He was especially proud of the big boy pillow he had! Last night, Mommy took him in his room and put him in bed like it was any other night. Jace didn't make a peep until 6:30 this morning!! Whoo Hooo Jacer! The real test was naptime today for Daddy. Jace sat in his bed and talked for nearly an hour before falling asleep but he never got out of bed! Tonight was the same story....he went to bed just like he was still in a crib! Mommy actually wonders if he just hasn't realized he can get up whenever he wants! And in other REALLY BIG BOY news....Jace peed on the potty tonight!! Keep in mind that this was after nearly 1/2 hour of sitting there but he was determined. As soon as Mommy got the potty out, Jace asked for an M (meaning M&M's). He sat and tried so hard...grunting and pushing to no avail. Mommy kept saying, 'good job buddy....are you done?' He kept saying 'no'. He was not going to get off of that potty until he produced something. Finally, 30 min. later to the screaming applause of Mommy, Daddy, and BuBu, Jace produced a slight but steady stream of pee pee!! No idea when it will happen again, but for now Jace is a superstar in this household!!

Weekend Away......postponed (i.e., cancelled, sianara, never happening, etc)

This post begins with one big SIGH. Mommy and Daddy have been planning a weekend getaway sans child for some time now (like 25 months in the making). A wonderfully relaxing, enjoyable weekend away while Jace was contently in the company of Grandma F. All plans were in perfect order. The hotel was booked. Restaurants were drooled over. Then came the weather report....snow. There has been no snow in this neck of the woods in almost a month....until now. The storm blew over and it really wasn't much to worry about.....until Friday morning. Jace woke up with a cough that could compete with the flippers at Sea World. This icky cough was followed with almost 15 minutes of being unable to catch his breath. Scary would be an understatement. Poor Jacer would try and talk but didn't even have enough air to get more than 1 word out. Finally, after sitting in front of the humidifier for a while, he was back to his usual self. Mommy and Daddy however, did not feel comfortable leaving him....and Grandma F. wasn't too thrilled with the idea of a 'can't catch your breath fit' either. In the end, Grandma came to just spend the day with Jace and all was well. Jace is fine...the Dr. didn't even want to see him.

Jace had a red rose waiting for Grandma when she arrived on Saturday. He played it perfectly too. This kid is seriously going to be a heartbreaker!

Of course Jace had to get some goodies as well...including a new Thomas book!

And more presents from Mommy and Daddy....M&M's which would prove very useful..but more on that later.

Ah yes, Jace and Daddy with some light reading material. Daddy has been relaxing, on vacay, teaching Jace the ways of the world. Speaking of vacay, Daddy had his time away on Wednesday night when he was away at a concert....hmmm looks like Mommy has some comp. time!

Finally, Jace SAT ON THE POTTY!! Please, don't get too excited....he didn't PRODUCE anything yet. This is a huge deal for Mommy and Daddy. Since the 'poop in the tub' incident, Jace has also been fearful of the potty. He would sit on it all day long...with his diaper on. Try and take his diaper off and he would nearly go into convulsions because he was so scared. Tonight was a turning point. After watching his brand spankin' new Elmo Potty movie he agreed to sit on the potty without a diaper! He was immediately rewarded with an M&M and subsequently would have sat there for hours. Score one for the parents!!

Valentines Day '09 was celebrated (a day early) with lots 'o sugar for Jace. So much sugar in fact, that he ran out of daycare this afternoon with such sugar induced force that he fell smack on his noggin. There was blood, a few tears, and later..a HUGE fat lip. Mommy must say, she is proud of her little man and his first battle wound.

Jace has received so many awesome cards and gifts for V-day this year. For some reason he found his Kung Fu Panda musical card from Aunt Rita hilarious....so did Daddy.

Above Freezing!!

Jace has had the luxury of having multiple days ABOVE FREEZING! The word 'outside' has been uttered thousands (literally) of times over the last few days. Needless to say, Jace has been sleeping well at night. Other than enjoying the nice weather, Jace hasn't been up to much lately. He went to the UNI game today with Daddy, Mommy, and a couple of other friends. He was an amazing boy....seriously he loved watching and didn't complain once. Mommy knew he would want to go to college at UNI....on basketball scholarship of course. What boy wouldn't want to stay at home and live with their Mommy for their freshman year at college. Ahem. Moving on....Jace is hilarious. That is really the only way to put it. He literally cracks Mommy and Daddy up on a regular basis. One never knows what the child might say. His newest thing is calling Mommy...MommI. That is mom and then the letter I. It is so funny because he is totally serious when he says it. No idea where it came from but Mommy secretly hopes it sticks around for a while because it makes her laugh.

Maybe there is more to it than Jace just loving basketball....could it be that he's in it for the popcorn??? Please take note of the belly too. Yeah, about halfway through the game Jace asked Mommy to see her belly. She politely declined.

This is from Jace's Thomas table. He thinks he is hilarious when he sits in it. The other night he came to get Mommy and said, 'Sit MommI'. Of course Mommy obliged but was lucky to get the thing off of her behind afterwards!

Outside at last!!!

Jace has been much nicer to Ozzy in the last few weeks. He is very sweet and tells him he loves him and gives him hugs and kisses. Of course he still says 'no' and 'mine' just as often. He has started thinking of Ozzy more of a playmate though and loves to throw toys for him and is forever saying, 'C'mon BuBu'.

Fruit Snacks rule! Jace can put those suckers down like nobody's business!

G'ma and G'pa Fun!

Jace had some fun at Grandma and Grandpa F's this weekend.....and who can forget Tom Thomas and Aunt Err. Jace loves both of them (equally) and is always sad to see his time with them come to an end. Jace is recovering from another double ear infection so his sleeping habits on the road were nothing to write home about. Mommy was slightly tired also as Jace ended up sleeping with her both nights. Let's just say for such a small guy, he takes up plenty of room in bed! Add Reggie to the mix and it's a full twin bed! Onward to the pics!

It was actually above freezing at G'ma and G'pa's so Jace headed out for some fun!
