Saturday Night/Sunday Morning 12:24 am

Saturday Night/Sunday Morning 12:45 am at a Kum and Go 1 1/2 hours from home....with 2 sleeping children in tow.

8 hours earlier..........

Mommy, Daddy, Jacer, and Lexa made a trip to Illinois to hang out at a BBQ (thrown by one of Papa's friends) with Nana, Papa, Keith, and Darcy.

Jace found plenty of kids to hang with, including this cutie patootie little girl with beautiful eyes. He also played tag with a couple of boys quite a bit bigger than him. Mommy actually had to tell him to play nice because he was being a bit of a bully (inside Mommy was smiling though as he wasn't taking any smack from anyone, no matter how big they were).

Lexa enjoyed the beautiful day and sunshine.

Jace climbed a tree....with Daddy's help

Mommy and Jace posed for pictures

Oh yes, and there was cake!

Jace was buddy buddy with Papa (and the guy next to them) and scored some strange chicken hatching an egg.

Lexa let Nana hold her....provided she was passed out of course!

Jacer had way too much fun and passed out himself.

Upon departure from the BBQ, Mommy had: a Daddy who may or may not have had a smidge to drink, a sleeping 5-month old, and a sleeping 3 1/2-year old. She was having a lovely drive listening to some tunes, chatting with Daddy, and praying the wee ones stayed asleep.

Suddenly there was this.....

Ah the adventures one has. On the interstate. In the middle of the night. With 2 children. In the end it worked out and Daddy was able to change the tire and have the crew back on their merry way in no time. However, not before Mommy was cursing herself and Dave Ramsey for sticking to his plan for the road to financial freedom. This plan included only using cash and had Mommy oh so proud of herself as she left home, leaving the debit card firmly in place on the counter thus paving the future for herself and her children. Lovely, Dave. Didn't think about what may happen if a tow truck, or maybe a hotel was needed in an emergency situation. Thank goodness for Daddy and his skillzzzz....the path to financial freedom is still in the horizon (however far away that horizon may be of course). Lesson learned however, and the debit card will be taken on road trips...for emergency situations.

Black and Gold Too.

Although Jace and Lexa have taken an oath to be Purple for Life...Lexa likes to rock the black and gold as well. There is a clause in the oath that specifically allows for black and gold wearing, Hawkeye cheering Panther fans (as long as they are not playing eachother of course).

Now that there are no longer any Panther/Hawkeye misunderstandings, allow Mommy to chronicle a few of last weekend's happenings.

There was a picnic.

Jace looked like such a little schoolboy skipping along with his lunch box.

He kept saying, 'This picnic is so cool'.

Lexa enjoyed a little swinging action.

Daddy and Jace lost a couple lbs. each in sweat alone.

There was a pizza made by some wildly entertaining chef.

The finished product....and oh so tasty!

Oh and it appears the princess is a tomboy. She had several pretty, delicate pink toys at her disposal and chose the batman car to play with (aka chew on). Mommy couldn't be more proud....this of course coming from the Mommy whose childhood room was adorned with Chicago Cubs posters and a baseball card collection rather than boy band posters and barbies!

This Week....

This week has been about getting used to Mommy being back at work. It actually hasn't been too horrible. Mommy has even had time to sneak in some pictures and tutu making.

Apparently someone is ready for fall.....

Picture courtesy of "Photos by Jace". Thumb added at no extra charge.

Kissy, Kissy

Nothing says summer like hamburgers and corn on the cob...with mint chocolate chip ice cream for dessert!

Lexa loves to help Mommy cook. Especially because she knows something is surely being whipped up to tickle her fancy too!

Chillin'

Daddy and Ozzy were out for a late night walk this week and found a frog. They carried it all the way home so Jace could check him out.

Jacer got nose to nose (hmmm, now that she mentions it, Mommy isn't sure frogs even have noses....this will take some contemplation...) with it and the poor thing got scared went pee...all over Daddy.

Mommy decided to explore her domestic side and made UNI tutus with Carlie's mommy. The process took over 3 hours but was well worth the effort....wouldn't you agree?

And not to be outdone by his sister in Panther Pride....

Jace and Lexa's Land 'O Fun

It is rough being Jace and Lexa these days. From playing together and having dance parties to attending birthday parties, it is a tough road. Someone has to do it though...and they seem willing.

Mommy is going to sum up the weekend quickly. Lexa is in love with Ozzy. Jace has Mommy's dance moves. Jace's buddy Gaige turned 3.

Always the funny man.

Playing Scooby Doo together.

Mommy's little angels....95% of the time anyway.

Yes, Lexa loves her some Ozzy attention. Pretty sure Ozzy doesn't mind either...except when his ear gets tugged of course.

This is what you call sibling love. If only little miss didn't want to become mobile so bad...the honeymoon will most likely be over then!

Mommy's little happy girl...who, Mommy might delighfully add, has been happy at Tricia's for several hours in the past week!!

I love you and I think I'm gonna have to kiss you.

FINALLY a morning below 85 degrees. So chilly in fact that babylegs were in the forecast!

Lexa, loving her brother and his moves.

And what moves he has!

Dance party at Jace and Lexa's!

Those of you UNI alumns may recognize the expression on Jace's face...Mommy used to wear it well on the dance floor. Unfortunately, during the dance party last evening Jace was paying close attention to Mommy's moves...and copying them. To make matters worse, Lexa was then watching him. AY, AY, AY!

Jacer, attempting to 'Pin the tail on the donkey' at Gaige's shindig.

Lexa was loving the exersaucer action!

Gaige's Mommy is always doing fun, creative things. All the kids got to 'go fishing' during the party. Jace caught a sucker, fruit snacks, and bubbles!

CHEESEBALL!

The bouncy house was more like a mosh pit.

All of the kiddos at the party.

And that's it. Another installment of Jace and Lexa's glorious life! Stay tuned for more!
