Well, we have 2 problems. Both problems stem from Jace's undying need for attention. It is becoming more and more apparent that he does not care who this attention comes from--meaning loved ones, aquaintances, or total stangers. At any rate, this does appear to be quite a dilema.
First, Jace got his hand stuck in the VCR a couple of months ago. Now many of you may be wondering why Mommy lets Jace stick his hand in the VCR--good question. Others may wonder why we haven't moved into 2008 and still have a VCR--good question. However, these points really are mute because that fact is that it happened. So Jace is standing there with his hand stuck in the VCR. He screams of course and looks to Mommy to make it all better. Mommy jumps up, pulls out his hand, and gives him a huge hug. Hmmmm, that really got a lot of Mommy attention. So, 2 seconds later, Jace's hand is back in the VCR. Once again Mommy jumps up, pulls out his hand, and gives him a hug. This time she does give him a stern 'no'. Hmmmm, more attention. So 3 seconds later, Jace's hand is again in the VCR. This time Mommy does nothing. Jace looks at her and screams AHHHHHH. Mommy does nothing. 2 seconds later, Jace calmly removes his hand from the VCR! It was never even stuck! This little boy really knows how to work the system! On and off for about 2 months Jace would try this trick of sticking his hand in and pretending to be stuck to get attention. There was only one time when Mommy felt slightly bad when it really did end up being stuck and poor Jace sat there screaming for several minutes. This is when Mommy felt it was best to introduce Jace to the story of the Boy Who Cried Wolf.
On to our second problem. Jace is a social butterfly. This is a good thing but he has no concept--or fear of strangers. Friday, Jace, Mommy, and Daddy went out to dinner because.......well because it was Friday and that's what we do. It was about a 1/2 hour wait so Jace and Mommy sit down on a bench inside to wait. A girl about Mommy's age sits down next to them and gives Jace a smile. Wrong Move! Mommy could tell Jace instantly wanted more attention from this girl. For several minutes he kept looking at her trying to get her attention. Nothing. So finally what does he do? He jumps on her! Literally! She was very nice about it but it was a smidge embarrasing! Mommy kept apologizing and Jace kept pullling on the girl's coat and smiling at her! Finally, the girl's table was ready--much to her relief we're sure. The next talk with Jace will have to be on stranger safety!
That concludes Mommy's rambling for the evening. Now on to the fun---Jace pictures!!
While Mommy gets ready in the morning, Jace plays in the bathroom. He always has to get a headband out and put it on. How he even knows what to do with one is kind of puzzling since Mommy rarely wears one. Needles to say, he thinks he looks pretty cute!
What a great pair! Jace holds the bone while Ozzy chews. It's a great deal--Ozzy doesn't strain his neck leaning ALL THE WAY to the ground while Jace is occupied for several minutes! It's a win-win!
Jace being a very big helper--he did actually get out of his pajamas on this day. On Friday, Jace had a 'pajama day' with Daddy and hung out in them all day until.......it was time to go out to eat of course (because it was Friday)!
Mommy and Jace's self portrait--good looking pair huh!
Jace trying on his snowman hat. Great Aunt Rita sent Jace a super cool snowman kit that included this hat to put on your snowman. Jace of course thought he was absolutely hilarious putting it on himself!

29 days until spring................darn leap year!
Mommy and Jace are experiencing a little cabin fever these days. Between snow, ice, sleet, freezing rain, and bitterly cold temps. Mommy hasn't been working and Jace hasn't been getting out much. Jace and Mommy are very similar in that they CANNOT STAND to be stuck indoors! Luckily, Grandma F. decided to visit on Saturday and Aunt Erin spent the entire weekend at Jace's house. Aunt Erin's visit was actually extended until Tuesday when she was unable to drive over 20 miles per hour on the interstate on Monday. Ah winter. As the title of our blog indicates.....we are very ready for spring!
One definite problem with Mommy not being at work is the increase in funds being spent. Mommy has difficulty controlling herself when it comes to Jace's wardrobe and lack of things to do does not help this addiction!
Checking out his new kicks.......
Jace and Grandma F. doing some Zebra bouncin'...............
Hanging with Aunt Erin................
Bored out of our minds......................
Doin' a little jig...................
Jace is becoming quite the little dancer. He was showing off on Saturday when he went out to eat with Grandma and Aunt Erin. He did at least a little shimmy for every waitress that walked by our table. He was even invited back for their dance contest later in the year!
Here's to temps above that nasty little goose egg called ZERO!

Mommy's Little Valentine
Jace's Valentine's Day got started a little early this year. He had a checkup for his ears on Wednesday afternoon (which was great) so Mommy and Daddy decided to go out to eat after Jace's appointment rather than fight the masses on Thursday. As usual Jace spent most of the meal turned around completely in his high chair waiting for anyone to give him the slightest attention. The red hat ladies were in the restaurant so Jace had a great time (to Mommy's dismay) pointing and giggling at them. And, as is getting to be a habit, Jace offered his milk to nearly every person that walked by our table. In the end it was a very nice Valentine's Day dinner. When Jace got home however, he had to kick it in high gear to get his Valentines ready for the next morning. That meant picking out the perfect card for his friends and getting their candy together.
Hmmmmm, which one???
On Valentine's morning Jace took cards and candy to his friends at daycare and he gave Lori (who watches him) this lovely rose that he picked out. He was pretty proud of it although we are lucky it made it to her house in one piece--Jace seemed to think it was some sort of sword.....
Jace had a great time at daycare making heart shaped cupcakes--and cakes for Mommy and Daddy..yummy. He also got to drink pink milk all day long! Agrrr--real men drink pink!
And finally to end his fun-filled day, Jace opened a few presents from none other than Cupid himself.
Happy Heart Day!

Over the potholes and through the bitter cold, to Grandmother (and grandpa's) house we go...
Jace and Mommy went road tripping again this weekend. Grandma and Grandpa F. were experiencing withdrawal symptoms (similar to the ones Aunt Erin frequently gets) so it was decided a visit was in order. Jace had a great time playing with both Grandma and Grandpa and of course Uncle Reggie. Jace also got to fill his tummy at the maidrite and go out to eat with fabulous Kay and Debbie.
Jace would love it if EVERYONE in ANY room was paying attention to him. He attempted to give his milk to our waiter and flirt with the girls next to us. In the end only Fabulous Aunt Kay paid attention and read Jace his Valentine's Day book.
Jace and Uncle Reggie are great buds. Actually it is kind of like the love/hate relationship Jace and Ozzy have---Jace loves and the dogs.......maybe not hate but do get annoyed.
Grandma was a real trooper this weekend. Even so much of a trooper that Mommy is sticking to her promise and is not including Jace being whiplashed upside down, face first, into the side of the couch by Grandma. Mommy also is not including the picture of Grandma flat on her back being smothered by Jace as he tries to get down the stairs.
But back to the picture at hand.........Grandma and Jace spent countless hours going up and down the steps. Jace's newfound talent of going DOWN the stairs is sort of an obsession for him. Since Grandma vowed not to tell him no this weekend--she was following him up and down, up and down all weekend!
No more pictures please!
As you may have guessed, this ends our short but sweet photo parade of the weekend. Mommy would like to share some new Jace talents--that trust us you don't want to see pictures of anyway.
A couple of weeks ago, Jace started being able to tell Mommy when he had went poop (a.k.a. taken a deuce). If Mommy asked him if he had went potty (and he had) he would grunt ( similar to how he does when he is taking a deuce). Tonight Mommy observed Jace indeed filling his drawers before bed. Being the easily distracted Mommy that she is, she forgot that this action had taken place. About 10 minutes later Mommy asked Jace if he was ready to go to bed in which he replied with his familiar grunt of an answer. Yes, Jace was telling Mommy ( in very primitive Jace language) that he couldn't go to bed until she changed his diaper because he had pooped! Do we have a genius on our hands or what?!!

Snow Baby
Jace was at home with Mommy and Daddy again today due to the snow. Mommy really does still work..........sometimes. Actually she hasn't worked a full week since mid December.......but she's not complaining! Since Jace really is a snow baby (despite being born in Iowa in Jan. on a 48 degree day) Mommy and Jace decided to get some play time in outside. Of course Daddy decided to do his manly duties and shovel the driveway and Ozzy did his Ozzily duties and barked at the neighbors.
Jace had a great time and really got into it. He thought it was so cool to lick the snow off his hands--don't worry, we played on the side of the house where Ozzy does not relieve himself!
Loving the snow
DAAAAAA!!!!
For those of you who don't know--this is how Jace looks 99% of the time he is awake. That is- his mouth is open and sound is coming out. At this particular time he is yelling 'Da' which translated means 'dad'. Daddy was shoveling the back steps and Jace could no longer see him and decided to yell at him. Daddy indicated that he did indeed hear the little man!
Just a couple other random pics from recent days.................
Hmmmm, what is my next move going to be?
Mommy finally decided to turn Jacer around in his car seat. She was given the go-ahead at his 12-month check but was a little nervous after doing some reading. Apparently many parents these days are choosing to keep their kids backward facing much past a year. Mommy held out for a month but then decided to go ahead and let Jace see what the world had to offer going forward. As you can see his reaction was somewhat of a 'what's the big deal?'
Daddy had the infant car seat in his car still until last week so he had the luxury of keeping Jace in it if he fell asleep on the way home from daycare. Speaking of sleeping--we are putting a request in now for tubes for any future Jace siblings. He has started eating like a horse and has gained all of his weight back--and then some. He has also started napping SO much better. We're talking OVER 60 minutes on many occasions. Love those tubes!
