Gobble Till You Wobble 2010

Gobble Till You Wobble 2010 was a success! Mommy knew she would have little difficulty conquering this feat but was still pleased with her ability to ingest nearly a whole pan of brownies and an assortment of pies (not the whole pie of course, but at least a piece of each) along with all the traditional Thanksgiving foods. Lexa participated in her very first Thanksgiving this year and most likely ate more than her brother...which probably surprises nobody. She enjoyed sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and (as she is a brick off the old block) pumpkin pie...with whipped cream no less! Jacer had the usual...chocolate milk with a few nibbles of real food here and there. He did however, participate in the consumption of the brownies and the licking of bowls (pictures below). Daddy spent part of the weekend working and the other part hanging with the rest of the crew at Grandma and Grandpa’s.

Now that you have had a play by play of what each family member consumed (which you probably were dying to know) allow Mommy to delight your eyes with these splendid pictures of the festivities.

There were all sorts of fun activities from a dud of a shopping trip Friday morning to a family gathering and subsequent lighted Christmas parade....

Getting a little workout reaching for those cheerios...off the floor Mommy might add.

Meeting Santa for the first time in 2010...and no doubt telling him his one true wish this Christmas. Cars Underwear please.

T-R-O-U-B-L-E...but more on that in another post

Playing outside on a beautiful day...AFTER Thanksgiving with no coat!!

As stated above, Jace and Mommy were not short on sweet treats

Jace's prized possession. Yes, it's chapstick. Apparently it trumped the soap. Grandma bought Jace his very own chapstick Friday morning on the shopping excursion (bust) and he acted as if he had seen the light for the very first time.

Jace and Daddy making sure the Advent Calendar (train) is in good working order

And that be it! Mommy would list the things she is thankful for but there wouldn't be enough room on this blog. The pictures pretty much sum it up anyway....

And the record goes to......

....Jami!!

Lexa is getting a reputation. A reputation as a little bit of a diva. A diva who only wants her Mommy to hold her. This reputation is beginning to cause competition among family and friends alike. This has been going on for months so it came as no surprise when a family Thanksgiving gathering at Nana and Papa's turned into a 'who could hold Lexa the longest without making her cry' fest.

There was many a competitor vying for the title but alas there could be only one winner......

Nana

Keith

Darcy (who gave it a good shot and was actually winning for much of the day)

But in the end it was Jami who was able to keep the little miss smiling....even when Mommy was in clear sight!!

Congratulations Jami! You will receive a voucher for a free babysitting session!

Some other moments from the day.....

And the back...

For those of you thinking that being thankful for soap is a tad odd. You are in denial. Jace gave a perfectly understandable explanation. "Mommy, you know I really like to take a bath". Ahh yes, you see it in a different light now right?

There are always olives on hand (pun intended because Mommy cracks herself up) at family gatherings on Daddy's side.

Uncle Chuck was still in town so he joined in the festivities much to Jace's delight

A family portrait. Or not.

Maybe a hair better....

Lexa, getting ready to nosh on her first Thanksgiving feast. Until she decided to nap .5 seconds before dinner was served.

Lexa the Explorer (no relation to Dora)

Lexa the Explorer has been a crazy woman today. The girl has no idea that she doesn't know how to walk. She is pulling herself up on EVERYTHING. That is all well and good but she can't get it through her head that she can't just turn around and let go! Her bum must be sore tonight!

More Thanksgiving fun to come!!

Friday Funny

Mommy was looking through some old pictures today and she came across one that made her giggle. She loved the look on everyone's face and the chocolate completely covering Jacer's mouth.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Jace wasn't the only one partaking in the chocolate that afternoon. The evidence is written all over Mommy's face!

Lately.

Lately Jace and Lexa have:

*decided that cheese is the BEST food in the entire world and smashed on many a slices

*acted silly

*played with old toys that have been in the basement for 2 1/2 years

*caught up with Uncle Chuck

*posed with Uncle Chuck when the catching up was complete

*learned to brush 2 teefers

*used an umbrella and raincoat to go to swim lessons

*practiced being a Santa Baby

*discovered that Ozzy thoroughly enjoys cleaning people's hands after a meal

*caught Ozzy in the act of stealing pineapple (of all foods) from Jace's plate

*played peek-a-boo

*tried hot chocolate (Mommy may call it lukewarm chocolate) for the first time

And LOVED it!

Bet you can't wait to see what happens next!

The Baby Whisperer

Jace. He has been such a good sport about the whole ‘bringing home a crying baby that requires tons of Mommy and Daddy’s time’ thing. He was in love the moment he saw Lexa and hasn’t looked back since.

In the beginning Lexa was somewhat of a bump on a log. She just laid around and hung out. Admittedly she cried every so often and required some feedings and diaper changes but for the most part didn’t interfere in Jace’s world.

As she got older however, she discovered the joys of eating and chewing. That meant every single one of Jace’s toys was put in Lexa’s mouth at one time or another.

This was still an easy fix as Jace could take the toys away, sit them a mere 2 feet from Lexa and she could only watch. Then came the newest development. The girl moves. She moves and she moves and she moves. She moves to the smallest toy in the room, to the light socket, to the fragment of Ozzy’s bone on the carpet. She moves to the dog toys, the dog dish, and the poor dog himself.

Through all of this, Jace has remained steadfast in his role as the Baby Whisperer. He is able to calm her, distract her and make her laugh like nobody in the world.

Although he has gotten frustrated a time or two (like when she spilled his milk or climbed on the book he was trying to read) he has been gentle and consistent with her, making him one of her all-time favorite people. Yep, that’s Jace. The Baby Whisperer.
