The Recital that Happened!

The 2nd attempt at the recital was successful! Lexa made it to the stage and did wonderful! Check out the beautiful dancer for yourself:
Getting ready to go on stage for the finale.

Backstage in her fruit costume.

Lexa and Mommy just before she did her Mr. Rabbit dance.

Mommy just loves this picture...after the performance.

In addition to recital fun, it was a weekend full of superheroes. It was free comic book day complete with live action figures. This is Jace....attempting to fight Venom.

Lexa and Catwoman. You may notice Lexa's attire. She dressed in all purple (in which most, if not all of it, was too small)....and declared she was 'Purple Girl'.

Batman!

Last but not least of course!

Jace's friend Charlie spent the night Friday and they were dressed like this much of the time after going to The Amazing Spiderman 2. Mommy must say....it was an adventure.

The Bit of Easter that Wasn't. And Haircut!!

Well somehow Mommy messed up her last post and deleted a couple Easter pictures meant to be included. Hence the title...A bit of Easter. So, this post she included them...hence the title...The Bit of Easter that Wasn't. Yes, yes, she knows she is clever. The rest are Lexa's....HAIRCUT!

Before church. Regardless of how it looks, the funny bear wasn't meant to be a focal point in the picture.

Awww. The kids and Mommy (and even Reggie in his own way) looked at the camera so nicely. Grandma?
It was Grandma's birthday the day after Easter!

This is a throw in addition. The kids' school had an art show last night at a local bank. They each had a piece of artwork displayed. And there was cheese. That's the accessory hanging out of Lexa's mouth.

LAST picture with 4 years worth of hair!

He was far more concerned with the whole process than she was. Lexa has been ready to cut it for months. Jace was so worried she would regret it. Let's just say empathy is not an area of concern for Jace.

First snip!

Stylin'!

The final product. An adorable cut for Lexa and 10 inches for Locks of Love!
Rescheduled recital is this weekend! Which means one more forced opportunity for Mommy to curl hair and apply makeup....to Lexa. Pictures to come!

The Dance Recital that Wasn't. And a bit of Easter.

Lexa's first dance recital began seemingly well with her hair and makeup done, fans in attendance, and costumes ready. Mommy and Lexa spent the first portion just waiting backstage as the bunnies were near the end of the first half. Finally it was Lexa's debut time and she was lined up and led off. Mommy sat down in the crowd ready to view the results of a year of dance (and $$) and with just 2 dances before Lexa's...the power went off. And stayed off. Ms. Allison made the call to cancel the recital after about an hour without power. And....as the dancers left...the power came back on! Ah the luck! It ended up being a fun experience and one Lexa will surely never forget. Check out her beautiful self!
She won the brother lottery. He was so nervous for her and then concerned when the power went out and she was backstage. What a dreamboat!

Bunnies lined up and ready to dance!

A prepared mom (not this author) brought beads so the girls could make necklaces while waiting backstage.

Cute little bunny!

Feeling special with her backstage pass on!

The rest are from dress rehearsal...when she actually made it to the stage!

Shimmy shake!!

Lexa's class watching a high school dancer at rehearsal. They though she was sooooo cool!

The finale!
In other news....Jace and Lexa before school.

She came downstairs in a shirt clearly found in a 'too small, for sale' pile. Mommy checked the size just to see....size 6 months.

Some sort of mask made at school. That she was very proud of.

And finally, Easter egg hunt with the cousins at the Plantation!
There are talks of a make up recital. If so, Mommy will surely bombard you with more pictures of Lexa in hair and makeup!

The Last Week....

The last week has been full of fun. So, without further ado, here it is!

Easter egg hunt at Nana and Papa's. The Easter Bunny came early and HOOKED Mommy....err...Jace and Lexa up with candy!

The Golden Egg as Jace kept calling the yellow ones.

Oh just happy happy happy!

This is Lexa's newest bribe gift. Product of a cooperative girl during hair and makeup for dance pictures. Who knows what the actual recital will bring...a pony? Lexa is a master negotiator.

Princess Elsa. This is how she went to the grocery store....

The Easter Bunny was at Walmart!

Mommy and Jace ran in a 5k at Jace's school on Saturday. It was his very first one and to say Mommy was proud of him would be an understatement. The kid rocked it and showed so much heart and willpower. He finished in 29:13!! And he is 7!

And immediately after, got out the basketball. He never quits.

Before the race. Mommy was under the impression it was going to be a silly pictures. Apparently she was alone in her thinking....

The weather has finally been nicer which means playing outside. In our police hats apparently.

Thursday night Mommy, Jace, and Lexa went to Ames to see Beauty and the Beast the Broadway Musical. It was really good and topped off with the ability to bring cotton candy into the venue.
Mommy's friend from college has started making girl's dresses and matching dresses for their dolls. This is Lexa and Julie modeling their first purchase!

Little Missy with her princess hopscotch.

And that concludes Jace and Lexa's week! More to come next week!

Dance Pictures 2014

Lexa had her dance pictures taken today. She was pretty adorable in her costumes if Mommy does say so herself.
Her ballet costume. Cutest bunny around.

Tap costume. Supposedly she is a piece of fruit....

Lexa and her buddy Lilly posing between pictures.
The End!

OOPS!!

Well, another longer than intended break from the blog has ended! Celebrate with pictures from the past couple of weeks!

We mustache you a question.....

This is hard to see but Lexa is wearing stick on nail things. She was extremely proud of them...as you may be able to infer from the picture.

Hawkeye being loved on....while sleeping. This dog is a HANDFUL.
Mommy can't even remember why she wanted her picture taken but she is guessing the braids? Lexa is beginning to actually like having her hair done! Hallelujah! However she now states that she wants her hair short. Mommy told her she had to wait until after her dance recital and then the mop is fair game.

Awww. See, Hawkeye is cute again.

Aren't they so sweet?

This is a still moment. They are very rare. Mommy would guess this was in between episodes of getting in trouble. Or very, VERY early morning when he had not yet been naughty.

Lexa and Julie got matching pjs!

A little spring break fun at the Children's Museum.

This picture probably should have come first but yes, this is the entrance of the museum.

He is such a stud.

And that would be it! Mommy is nearly certain (at least 50%) that she will have another post up this weekend because Lexa has dance pictures!
