Logical Jace

Poor Jace. He has always been such a literal, logical little guy and now it is interfering with his playtime! This is the logical little boy that would not believe Mommy when she told him (EVERY DAY) on the way to daycare this winter that the snow would melt, turn into water, and go into the ground. Jace's response was always, "The snow came from the sky, it will melt and go back there". So now, Jace is trying his very hardest to have an imaginary friend. Actually it's Daphne from Scooby Doo. So last night he invited her over to his house. She (imaginary Daphne) came and he greeted her saying, "Hi Daphne, how are you"? Mommy thought it was too cute to she started really paying attention. Jace showed Daphne all around his house, even sharing some of his Cheerios with her. Finally, he gave up and said, "Mommy, Daphne's not here. She's not talking to me". Darn Logic!

Other than entertaining imaginary guests, the weekend has been pretty low-key. Mommy and Lexa started the weekend at Starbucks with a playdate with Carlie. This may seem like an odd place for a playdate but considering this was actually the first time they both had their eyes open at the same time on a playdate, their Mommies thought they were safe to choose the location.

Saturday night Mommy and Daddy decided to take Jace and Lexa to the circus. It was a little bit of a bust. Jace enjoyed watching the elephants give rides before the show and eating cotton candy. Other than that he was pretty bored. Lexa, on the other hand, loved it. She spend the entire time watching the lights reflecting off the ceiling...oh to be so easily entertained!

Sunday, Jace and Daddy continued their fishing preparations by purchasing Jacer his very first fishing pole!

It came complete with stickers to decorate the pole to your own liking.

Apparently it was a fairly tiring weekend...

Mommy Can Run!!!

Legally. Yep, although Mommy broke the rules and ran a few times prior to getting the Dr. ok, after her 6-week postpartum checkup she is officially free! Pounding the pavement (walking) for 6 weeks with the stroller and Oz was great but she is extremely grateful to be able to move the legs a little more again! She almost didn't get the ok as she nearly missed her appointment. Thinking it was at either 1 or 2 she decided to call and check around 10:45 between scrubbing floors and cleaning the toilet (yes, you wish you could be as exciting). The receptionist informed her that the appointment was in fact at 11...the hospital is also 15-20 minutes away! Mommy has never moved so fast and threw herself and Lexa in the car (after changing her running shoes for flip flops..she was getting weighed, and putting a bow in Lexa's hair....the important things in life). Mommy is proud to say that she was only 9 minutes late...and didn't get a speeding ticket!

Yesterday was Grandma's birthday so Mommy, Jace, and Lexa met her halfway to celebrate! Although it was certainly less relaxing than some birthdays it was a great time...hopefully for Grandma as well. Mommy is still getting used to the whole feeding in public thing so when the trip was planned, she envisioned Lexa eating in the nice, private family room outside the women's restroom. Um, yeah. Lexa is a monster eater and forced Mommy to use her hooter hider in Starbucks, Target, Bennigan's, and the play area at the mall. Nice.

Lexa, ready to see Grandma

Jace and Grandma getting their pictures taken.

Jace always talks Grandma into forking over the 75 cents for these rides. Before her, he didn't even know they actually moved!

Grandma entertaining Lexa. This was one of the only pictures actually taken of Lexa since the rest of the time she was attached to Mommy.

In other news...the weather has been wonderful! Jace and Lexa have been soaking up the sun outside and hanging out a little inside as well. Check it out!

Lexa loves her sling. And for all of you who miss seeing Mommy's huge belly, a little reminder...with a head poking out of course.

Jace and Daddy are planning a fishing trip and Jace decided this hat was a must have.

Mommy has been putting the finishing touches on Lexa's room (or her side anyway) with her new bow holder.

Riding bikes

Riding the Big Foot. This is a much easier task than last year as Jace can finally steer the thing. He still has trouble braking but it's progress.

Jace and Lexa, Lexa and Jace

Can you believe Miss Lexa has graced us with her presence for 6 weeks?! Mommy doesn't know where the time has gone! Unfortunately the 'paid maternity leave' is gone as well. Although Mommy and Lexa have been making the most of every moment (lunching with friends, shopping, cuddling on the couch, and napping), Mommy feels the unpaid moments need to be even more utilized...with moments like these!

6 weeks later and Jacer still adores his sister. This morning was Mommy/Jace time...since those times are fewer and further between. Mommy told Jace yesterday that he and Mommy were gong out alone for breakfast today, leaving Lexa at home. He said, "I want to bring Lexa". And then he continued, "And I want Daddy to come...you can stay home". Nice. In the end, Mommy talked him into a leisurely breakfast at Starbucks while Daddy and Lexa had some Daddy/Daughter time alone.

What a ham!

Entertaining his sister

Jace and Daddy love to horse around...check them out the other night

And while they did crazy boy things, Lexa and Mommy had spa night.

Daddy and both of his little boogers

Granted, Lexa is 6-weeks old and granted, she LOVES to eat but this picture cannot be right. Doesn't she look ginormous?? She really isn't that big yet! In fact, people are always commenting on how tiny she looks...after they comment on her mop of hair of course!

And finally, in the spirit of spring...GO CUBS!

And for those of you who knew Mommy in her crazy Cubs/Mark Grace days, you will be glad to see she hasn't forgotten wonderful number 17!

Grandma and Grandpa's or bust!

Mommy, Jacer, and Lexa headed out on a solo excursion over the weekend. Friday through Monday was spent at Grandma and Grandpa's house doing exciting things like going to the park, attending baby showers, and eating!! When Jace was asked what he did at Grandma and Grandpa's over the weekend, his response was 'Eat, Eat, Eat'! Hilarious that he has already picked up on the fact that eating is central to his family!

Lexa enjoyed her first visit south, meeting Reggie and many new Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins. She even got to meet her unborn husband at his Mommy's baby shower (this would be little Cameron who is due in May to one of Mommy's BFF's). Lexa proved to be a master traveler, never waking on the trip there or back....even amidst a frantic stop at a highway gas station since Jace had to pee NOW!

Posing with Mommy

Meeting Fabulous Uncle Doug

Jace got a bath shaving kit from Nana for Easter....he takes his body hair very seriously.

Reggie and Lexa getting to know eachother (much to Reggie's dismay...he is wondering why Mommy keeps bringing more of these things to his house).

Lexa all dressed and ready to impress...Cameron that is. Although he couldn't actually see her, surely he will see pictures someday!

Just one more for Mommy (or 25 but Mommy won't put them all on here!)

Jace and Emma playing at the park...notice how far away Mommy is from the action...just how she likes it!

Out to eat

Jace trying to figure out how to turn the camera on....apparently he got it.

Lexa hanging out with Grandma

Lexa got a little bored at the shower..with Cameron still being in the womb and all

Jace doing what he does best

Jace and Tango

Jace loves loves LOVES Daddy's good buddy Nate. He always plays with Jace and has even promised him a ride on a huge John Deere tractor during planting time. The coolest thing about Nate however, is his bird Tango. These are some recent shots of Jace meeting Tango. It is well known that Jace is a total animal lover but apparently it took him a minute to make up his mind about Tango.

Ummmm, not sure......

Yeah, Tango's pretty cool!
